Guatemala is extremely flexible regarding the adoption requirements for parents. Guatemala prefers that the adoptive parents be between the ages of 25 and 55, and allows single parent adoptions.
Prospective adoptive parents need to have a home study conducted, USCIS approval, as well as prepare a dossier which will be presented to the Guatemalan authorities.
Prospective adoptive parents must also have a valid American passport to travel to Guatemala to pick up the child.
