FEES FOR GUATEMALAN ADOPTION

 

 


                   Guatemalan Adoptions NFP Agency Fee -                                                 $ 2,500

Includes assistance in preparation and processing of CIS (Immigration) forms, as well as coordination with the Guatemalan attorneys to receive referral and updates on baby health and development. This fee also includes preparation of the dossier.

 

                   Foreign Adoption Fees -                                                                   $ 20,000 - $ 21,000

Includes all of the Country fees, such as notaries, document certification and translation, registration fees, court fees, processing of adoption decree, new passport and birth certificate.  This fee is payable in two installments, the first one at the time of acceptance of referral and the second at the time of completion of the adoption in Guatemala, prior to travel.

 

                   CIS Citizenship and Immigration Services Fee -                                        $ 670

This fee is sent to CIS along with form I-600A (Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition). There is an additional  $80 per person fingerprinting fee.

 

                   DNA Fee -                                                                                                      $ 470 each

Guatemala requires two DNA tests.  Fees are paid to the laboratory by the adopting family.

 

                   US Embassy Visa Fee and Medical Exam -                                     $ 380

This fee is paid by the adopting family at the time of American Embassy visa processing for the adopted baby.

 

                   Travel Expenses

Travel expenses, including airfare and hotel averages $ 1,500 per couple, depending on when the travel arrangements are made.

 


 

                   Home Study Preparation (Service provided for Illinois residents only)     $ 1,200

A professional social worker from Guatemalan Adoptions NFP will meet with you at our agency, and will visit your home to interview you and all members in the household.  She will write a report based on all the information received.  She will also help you in obtaining a foster care license which is required by the state of Illinois.

 


 

                   Post Placement Reports (Service provided for Illinois residents only)       $  300

After completion of your adoption process, you will need to complete two post placement reports within the first year of your adoption.  Those reports will be sent to the attorneys in Guatemala to show how well your child and your family have adapted to each other and also to show your child’s development and well being.
